Atletico Madrid, Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle United are aiming to add Girona’s Venezuelan midfielder Yangel Herrera to their squad during the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United are currently pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification, and they will look to build on the progress this season. They have managed to win a domestic trophy, and they will look to improve further in the coming months. Manager Eddie Howe considers Herrera an ideal midfield reinforcement due to his physical strength, playmaking ability, and experience in La Liga.
The player has been held as a “tactically intelligent” midfielder in the past.
Sources have confirmed to CaughtOffside that Newcastle are not alone in the transfer race. Atletico Madrid and Nottingham Forest are also keen to add Herrera to their squad.
Atletico and Nottingham Forest want Yangel Herrera
Atletico Madrid plan to add more energy and dynamism to their midfield, while Nottingham Forest will look to build on their impressive performance this season. They are still coaching for European qualification, and they believe a player like Herrera could help them compete at a high level.
Herrera has done quite well for Girona this season, playing a key role in his team’s success. The 27-year-old has been noted for his contributions both defensively and offensively.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. The former Manchester City midfielder will want to compete at a high level and join a club with ambition.
