Chelsea up offer to Ipswich striker

Chelsea are reportedly set to hold more talks over a potential transfer move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, according to Simon Phillips.

The Blues could do well to land Delap this summer as they need a new striker, but the England Under-21 international is also a target for Manchester United.

According to Phillips, there is some desire from Delap to live in Manchester, but it’s not a deal-breaker for him, so Chelsea are still in the running.

The report adds that the west London giants are now also prepared to improve their contract offer to Delap after fresh talks.

So all in all, nothing’s been decided on Delap yet, but it looks like Chelsea and Man Utd will be the two main teams to watch in the race for the 22-year-old’s signature.

Phillips notes, however, that there are other options CFC have looked at, so it could be that we’ll see them turn to alternatives such as Victor Osimhen, Benjamin Sesko or Hugo Ekitike.

Delap has proven himself in the Premier League, though, unlike those other names (earning praise from Enzo Maresca in the process as he called him “fantastic”, as per TNT Sports), so he makes sense as a tempting target for both Chelsea and United.

Could Europa League final decide Delap’s fate?

Much has been written about Delap’s future, but ESPN‘s report suggests things could become a bit clearer after tonight’s Europa League final.

The Red Devils are aiming to beat Tottenham to pick up a consolation prize after an awful season, but perhaps even more important than that is the fact that Champions League qualification is up for grabs.
