Man United ahead of Chelsea in the race to Liam Delap

Manchester United remain keen on signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town at the end of the season, and they are in pole position to sign him.

Despite the fact that they have failed to secure Champions League qualification for the next season, after the defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final, they want to sign the 22-year-old striker. A report from Football Insider claims that they are ahead of Chelsea in the race now.

The Blues are keen on signing the 22-year-old striker as well. Delap has 12 goals to his name, and he has done quite well for Ipswich despite their overall struggles. He is highly rated in the Premier League, and he could develop into a top-class player with the right guidance. He will want to compete at a high level, and the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea could be the ideal destination for him.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has labelled him as a “fantastic player” earlier this season, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea come forward with an offer to sign him. They need an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson. The 22-year-old has the attributes to develop into a complete forward, and he could sort out Chelsea’s attacking unit for the foreseeable future.
