Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly both still in the mix for the potential transfer of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The prolific Sweden international is currently at the centre of a “tense” situation with his current club, according to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel.
Man United have not yet opened formal talks over signing Gyokeres, according to Romano, but they are keeping informed of his situation.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are also still in touch over Gyokeres even if their talks with another striker, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, are more advanced, as first reported by CaughtOffside earlier this week.
Fabrizio Romano on Viktor Gyokeres transfer situation
Speaking in the video below, Romano explained that Gyokeres and Sporting are in a tense situation due to his asking price.
It seems there is significant disagreement over how much Sporting should be demanding to let their star striker go this summer.
This clearly won’t be easy for the Portuguese giants, with Romano acknowledging that the 27-year-old had an “unbelievable” season, scoring 54 goals in 52 games in all competitions for his club.
Although Sporting are content to let Gyokeres go for below his release clause, they still want more than €60m for the player, according to Romano.

Gyokeres’ side, rather understandably, feel annoyed by this as the player stayed at the club last summer when he could have moved.
He again stayed loyal when manager Ruben Amorim left before January, as noted by Romano, so it makes sense that he now wants to leave without too much fuss.
