There is nothing agreed over a new deal between the French defender and the Premier League champions.
Another Liverpool centre-back who could head out of the club is Jarrel Quansah. The young defender has admirers in Bayer Leverkusen and his departure could leave Liverpool short in the centre-back position.
Joe Gomez’s future at Anfield also remains unresolved with the defender looking to move away from the club in order get more first team action.
That leaves Liverpool searching the market for a new central defender who can become a part of their squad under Arne Slot next season.
