Reports in Spain claim Arsenal have an interest in Sevilla’s talented young defensive midfielder Lucien Agoume this summer.

The France Under-21 international has impressed during his time in La Liga, and is supposedly being kept under consideration by the Gunners amid doubts over Thomas Partey’s future.

That’s according to a report from Fichajes, though this has not yet been confirmed by some slightly more reputable outlets.

Agoume has been linked with Arsenal before, though, with Foot Mercato mentioning that the north London giants had an interest in him back in December last year.

That didn’t end up amounting to anything, and it’s not yet clear if these new reports will prove to be that substantial either, but it could become clearer once we know what’s happening with Partey.

Could Arsenal sign Lucien Agoume to replace Thomas Partey?

As things stand, Partey is out of contract, with Fichajes claiming Barcelona are interested in him.

Arsenal.com announced that Partey’s contract had expired, but that talks were ongoing over giving the Ghana international a new deal.

Partey has been a key player for Mikel Arteta’s side, so one imagines keeping him will be the club’s top priority.

However, if an agreement can’t be reached, it will be interesting to see if links with Agoume or other players of a similar profile then gather pace.
