Manchester United are targeting Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich to add physicality and experience to their midfield.

The Red Devils are continuing talks with their primary targets before making a move for the Portuguese international. Ruben Amorim is keen to include Palhinha in his wider squad plans, but a move will only materialise if the financial conditions align with Manchester United’s expectations.

Sources close to the situation have informed CaughtOffside that the German giants are open to selling Palhinha—who joined from Fulham for €50 million at the start of last season—during this summer window. Bayern’s asking price will be in the range of €30 to €35 million.

The player has been linked with a return to the Premier League in recent months.

Palhinha is a player in demand

In addition to Manchester United, Fulham, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Benfica are closely monitoring the midfielder’s situation. Fulham, in particular, are keen on reuniting with their former star following his two impressive seasons in the Premier League. However, financial limitations and the player’s recent injury history could complicate a potential return.

Benfica are also interested in bringing the Portuguese international back to his homeland and are closely tracking developments.

Meanwhile, Bayern remain focused on renewing Leon Goretzka’s contract, while Palhinha’s representatives continue exploring Premier League opportunities. Although a loan move would be favourable for Manchester United, Bayern are only open to a permanent transfer.
