Emotional Klopp says ‘we will miss you’ in Jota tribute

The football world continues to come to terms with the shocking passing of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota at just 28-years-old.

Former Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has become the latest figure to share his grief, posting an emotional tribute on Instagram following the tragic death of the Portuguese forward and his brother Andre.

The German, who left Anfield at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, worked with Jota during his tenure and saw the former Wolves and Porto attacker develop into a key figure for club and country.

“This is a moment where I struggle,” the 58-year-old wrote.

“There must be a bigger purpose! But I can’t see it! I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother Andre.”

Arne Slot’s predecessor continued his post by remembering Jota not just as a footballer, but as a person.

“Diogo was not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband and father!” Klopp added.

“We will miss you so much! All my prayers, thoughts and power to Rute, the kids, the family, the friends and everyone who loved them! Rest in peace – Love, J.”

Jota scored 65 goals in all competitions for Liverpool after arriving from Wolves in 2020, and played a crucial role in the club’s domestic cup wins and title success.
