Aston Villa are keen on signing Bayern Munich star Joao Palhinha

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is looking to add more depth to his squad this summer and a new midfielder is high on the agenda.

Despite having players like Youri Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana, John McGinn and Ross Barkley in the team, Emery is still concerned about the defensive aspect of the midfield and he is ready to make a move for a new player this summer.

According to Sport Bild via their Bayern Insider Podcast, Aston Villa have approached Bayern Munich to enquire about Joao Palhinha’s availability as they weigh up a potential move for the Portuguese midfielder.

Since his move from Fulham to Bayern Munich, the Portuguese midfielder has struggled for game time and because of that, his impact has been minimum.

The player is intent on making his move to the Bundesliga work but opportunities have been limited under manager Vincent Kompany.
