Liverpool star Diogo Jota’s vehicle was involved in excessive speed

Spanish authorities believe that speed may have been a factor in the tragic car crash that claimed the life of Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva.

The 28-year-old footballer and his 25-year-old brother died when the Lamborghini they were travelling in veered off the road in Zamora, Spain, on Thursday.

The Spanish Civil Guard, while noting that the investigation remains ongoing, has stated that initial findings suggest the vehicle was exceeding the local speed limit of 120km/h (75mph) at the time of the incident, according to BBC.

Investigators suspect that a tyre blowout may have contributed to the crash, leading to the loss of control of the high-performance vehicle before it left the road.
