Manchester United have an interest in the potential transfer of £60m-rated Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

CaughtOffside reported earlier this week that Watkins is a key target for Man Utd this summer, as Ruben Amorim wants players with Premier League experience.

Now the Daily Mirror have also reported on Watkins being a target for United, adding that the England international’s asking price would likely be around £60m.

Amorim needs to continue rebuilding this Red Devils squad, with Matheus Cunha another proven Premier League player who’s joined this summer.

Meanwhile, Bryan Mbeumo is another of a similar profile being strongly linked by Sky Sports and others, even if a deal is not done yet.

Is Ollie Watkins the striker signing Manchester United need?

Watkins has been prolific during his time at Villa Park and surely has it in him to make the step up to a higher level.

That’s not necessarily to say that United are a higher level than Villa right now, though of course the pressure of wearing that famous red shirt and lining up at Old Trafford is vast.

It would be interesting to see if Watkins could take his Villa form with him to United and give them the reliable 15-20-goal-a-season player they so badly need.

Hojlund has just 14 Premier League goals in his two seasons in Manchester, during which time Watkins has netted 35 league goals in 75 appearances.
