Manchester City’s final transfer plans for this summer’s window are coming together, and the future of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak could end up having a vital role to play.

The Sweden international is known to be a top target for Liverpool at the moment, but one imagines other clubs in the Premier League will be desperately hoping that doesn’t happen.

That could, in turn, then mean City have successfully led LFC away from Isak, as the Merseyside giants surely couldn’t afford both.

It’s also the case that Arne Slot has already brought in Hugo Ekitike this summer, so it’s hard to see a need for him to be joined by both Isak and Rodrygo.

In fairness, if City sign Rodrygo then they’ll also have a truly excellent-looking squad again after suffering a major dip last term.
