Man United star Bruno Fernandes holds secret talks for surprise move

The Saudi Pro League’s aggressive recruitment drive could soon set its sights on one of Manchester United’s biggest stars.

Reports emerging this week suggest that Al-Ittihad have opened dialogue with Bruno Fernandes over a possible transfer to the Middle East before the close of the current window.

This is not the first time the Portuguese playmaker has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia. Earlier in the summer, Fernandes was at the centre of a stunning package worth a staggering £200 million from Al-Hilal.

At the time, he opted to remain at Old Trafford, a decision influenced heavily by new manager Ruben Amorim, who made it clear that Fernandes was central to his long-term vision for the squad.

However, Al-Ittihad are now believed to be weighing up whether to test United’s resolve with an equally bold approach, according to The Sun.

Initial discussions with Fernandes’ representatives are said to have been encouraging, with the midfielder outlining financial expectations in the region of £33 million per year, including bonuses.

While Fernandes has long insisted his focus is on achieving success at United, he has previously admitted that his future could be shaped by the club’s willingness to cash in should the right offer arrive.

The Red Devils reportedly placed a £100 million valuation on their captain earlier in the window, and it is thought any negotiations with Al-Ittihad would need to meet a similar threshold.

Losing Fernandes would represent a major setback for Amorim, who is attempting to implement his ideas in a squad already under transition.

Despite a narrow defeat to Arsenal in his first league outing, there were signs of promise, built largely around Fernandes’ influence in midfield.

With the Saudi Pro League showing no signs of slowing down its recruitment of elite European players, the coming days could prove decisive in determining whether United’s skipper continues his Old Trafford journey.
