Arsenal have reportedly offered a five-year contract to star centre-back William Saliba amid transfer interest from Real Madrid.
The France international is a crucial part of Mikel Arteta’s side, and it would be a major blow to lose him ahead of what should be his peak years.
Charles Watts has written for CaughtOffside about Arsenal chief Andrea Berta working to tie Saliba down to a new deal, and now further information has emerged.
According to Foot Mercato, the Gunners have offered Saliba a new five-year contract, though there is no agreement yet, and Madrid are continuing to monitor the 24-year-old’s situation.
What next for William Saliba as Arsenal deal yet to be agreed?
Arsenal fans will hope this can be resolved as soon as possible, as Saliba has just under two years left on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman has been a world class performer alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in the Arsenal defence, playing a huge role in the team becoming competitive again in recent years.
Saliba is clearly good enough for the very top level, and it’s easy to imagine him becoming a star player for Real.
It’s surely vital for AFC to get Saliba to agree terms on a new deal, and Foot Mercato suggest the player is open to doing so.
Could Real Madrid turn Saliba’s head?
Still, nothing has been agreed yet, and it’s easy to imagine that Saliba might be tempted by the opportunity of moving to the Bernabeu.
Madrid are a pretty safe guarantee when it comes to winning major trophies, and that’s something Saliba hasn’t done yet at Arsenal.
