A number of players are looking to leave Liverpool this summer despite their success this season.
The outgoings are already underway with Trent Alexander-Arnold deciding to leave the club after spending his whole life at Anfield.
The England international defender is leaving for a new challenge away from the Merseyside club and he will not be the only player leaving the club this summer.
Midfielder Harvey Elliott could be another player who could leave the Premier League champions for more playing time.
Another player who has spent most of this season on the bench is now edging closer to a move away from Anfield.
Caoimhin Kelleher is on his way out of Liverpool
According to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s pursuit of Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is gaining momentum, with Liverpool prepared to accept an offer for the 26-year-old shot-stopper.
Kelleher, who has served as Alisson Becker’s understudy at Anfield, is seeking regular first-team football, and Villa’s interest comes after their need to replace Emiliano Martinez, who is expected to depart the club this summer.
Liverpool’s signing of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili suggests that Kelleher could fall further down the pecking order, making a move away from Anfield more likely.
A player of his quality deserves to play week in week out and at Liverpool it is not possible due to the availability of other players.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke provided the update regarding Kelleher’s potential move to Aston Villa.
“Kelleher will figure highly up on that wanted list at Aston Villa”, he told Football Insider.
“Liverpool would be open to selling him this summer, and will accept the right offer, especially with the player entering the final year of his contract at Anfield.”
