Report: 29-year-old to lead major exodus at Man City as Guardiola plans major overhaul

Manchester City are preparing for a significant squad overhaul this summer, with England international Jack Grealish poised to be the first high-profile departure, according to Football Insider.

The 29-year-old winger, who joined City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a British record fee of £100 million, has struggled to secure regular playing time under Pep Guardiola, making only seven Premier League starts in the 2024–25 season.

Grealish’s omission from the FA Cup final squad, where City suffered a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, has further fueled speculation about his future.

Despite City’s need for an equaliser, Guardiola opted to bring on Phil Foden and debutant Claudio Echeverri, leaving Grealish on the bench.

Sources suggest that City are open to offers for Grealish, with a preference for a permanent transfer over a loan deal. Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as potential destinations, with Napoli reportedly leading the race.

Former chief scout Mick Brown has shed light on the possible incomings and outgoings at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

“They’ve got question marks about a lot of players there,” he told Football Insider.

“Jack Grealish looks likely to leave because he’s not playing, he’s dropped out of the England squad and he wants to be playing regularly.

“That’s going to be difficult, because it’s hard to say who’s going to be able to afford him.

“They’ve got the Rodri situation, there’s no guarantee he comes back as the same player.

“John Stones’ injury issues are a problem so they’ll see if they can move him on.

“The right-back who’s been on loan at Milan isn’t going to come back into their plans.

“There have been questions about whether Gundogan is still at the level they need since he came back from Barcelona last year.
