Atletico Madrid have identified Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson as a prime target ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Spanish club actively pursuing reinforcements for Diego Simeone’s squad.
Sources with close links to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that Robertson has caught the attention of Atletico’s recruitment team, and negotiations between the two clubs are said to be progressing at a steady pace.
Robertson, who joined Liverpool from Hull City in 2017, has been a key figure in the club’s most successful era in a long time.
The left-back has won multiple Premier League titles and a Champions League title during his time at Anfield.
Andy Robertson faces uncertain future at Liverpool
However, his long-term future at Anfield is far from guaranteed.
While Robertson is still under contract until 2026, the club is reportedly considering refreshing the left side of their defense.
The anticipated arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, another attacking left-back, could further complicate Robertson’s role.
Despite this, Robertson is believed to be keen on staying and fighting for his place at Anfield.
He hopes to secure a contract extension that mirrors the club’s recent long-term planning, which has already seen Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk enter talks over their futures.
Liverpool, however, have placed a price tag of £25–30 million on the Scotsman, an amount Atletico Madrid are currently hesitant to meet.
Even though Robertson has expressed a willingness to stay, he is also open to new opportunities if the club signals that he is no longer central to their plans.
Atletico Madrid are monitoring the situation closely and are expected to make a formal move in the coming days.
