Bayern now looking at Cody Gakpo & Luis Diaz after transfer struggles

Things are not looking good for FC Bayern on the winger front.

The Bavarian giants are understood to be hellbent on reinforcing the left flank this summer ahead of the departure of Leroy Sane on a free transfer.

The German international is due to join Turkish giants Galatasaray, which will leave the Bundesliga champions a little short on options.

Nico Williams and Jamie Gittens are two names on Bayern Munich’s shortlist. However, both players appear set to join rival outfits on the European stage.

Chelsea and Barcelona will steal Gittens and Williams

It has not been a particularly successful few days for Max Eberl (director of sport) and Christoph Freund (sporting director).

Chelsea and Barcelona have made concrete moves for both Gittens and Williams respectively. Sources close to the clubs have confirmed that the duo are, at this stage, most likely to complete permanent transfers.

The Englishman already has an agreement on personal terms with Enzo Maresca’s men. Barcelona, meanwhile, are convinced that they can register Nico Williams this summer despite their ongoing financial concerns.

Indeed, investment totalling €40m [£34m] from German company Libero Football Finance will be transferred into the club accounts for the 2025/26 season.
