Chelsea monitoring Kyle Walker-Peters ahead of transfer

Chelsea are one of the clubs monitoring the situation of Kyle Walker-Peters, while Besiktas have also held talks over signing the 28-year-old defender.

The England international is in the final day of his Southampton contract, and it makes sense that he now looks likely to be on the move elsewhere this summer.

Sources with a close understanding of Walker-Peters’ situation have informed CaughtOffside that a number of clubs are on alert for the player’s availability.

“West Ham United, Fulham, Bournemouth, Everton, Crystal Palace, and his former club Tottenham Hotspur are all closely monitoring his situation. Chelsea are also keeping tabs on developments,” one well-placed source told CaughtOffside.

Still, it is Turkish giants Besiktas showing the most concrete interest at the moment.

Our source said that Besiktas have opened “official talks with Walker-Peters’ representatives”, with the player seemingly open to a new challenge abroad.

There will likely be attempts made to secure Walker-Peters’ signature in England as well, but it remains to be seen if those concrete efforts will be made soon.

It’s easy to imagine, however, that Chelsea and others could do well to bring in a proven performer like Walker-Peters, even if only as a squad player.

Walker-Peters was one of the few performers at the St Mary’s Stadium to emerge with any real credit in their disappointing 2024/25 season, which saw them relegated back to the Championship, finishing bottom of the Premier League table.
