Manchester United are among the numerous clubs considering a free transfer swoop for former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, CaughtOffside understands.

The 28-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Goodison Park at the end of his contract, and he has interest from the Premier League and abroad.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Man United are emerging as serious suitors for Calvert-Lewin, though his wage demands could be an issue.

Sources with a close understanding of the player’s situation have informed CaughtOffside that Calvert-Lewin is likely to ask for as much as £100,000 per week.

This would almost certainly be seen as too expensive for Man Utd, even if a move for Calvert-Lewin appeals due to his status as a free agent and his experience in the Premier League.

We reported yesterday that Ruben Amorim is keen to bring proven Premier League players in this summer, with Matheus Cunha’s move from Wolves already confirmed, while talks continue over signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

Ollie Watkins is also a target for United up front, but Aston Villa don’t want to sell, so other options such as Calvert-Lewin are also being explored.

The England international will also have other opportunities, however, with Newcastle, West Ham and newly-promoted Sunderland also all keen on him.

Meanwhile, sources added that DCL has interest from Celtic, plus unnamed clubs in the Bundesliga, MLS, and the Saudi Pro League.

Should Man Utd sign Calvert-Lewin?

Most MUFC fans would probably be pretty underwhelmed with the signing of Calvert-Lewin.

A few years ago, there’s no doubt he looked like a fine player, but he’s had problems staying fit and his form has gone downhill.
