Aston Villa to sign Marco Bizot amid Emiliano Martinez links

Aston Villa are reportedly set to sign a new goalkeeper in the form of Marco Bizot, potentially meaning Emiliano Martinez could leave the club.

This is according to a report from the Daily Mirror, who state that Martinez’s future has been in doubt in recent times, with interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

Bizot looks set to make the move to Villa Park as he’s keen on the challenge of playing in the Premier League.

The 34-year-old could be a key signing for Unai Emery, with the Mirror also noting that his arrival comes as backup ‘keeper Robin Olsen left at the end of his contract this summer.

Martinez has shone during his time at Villa, and it’s easy to understand why big names like Man Utd and Chelsea are keen on him.

The Argentina international looks like he’d surely be an upgrade on the under-performing Andre Onana at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Chelsea could arguably also do with replacing Robert Sanchez, who has often looked a little sub-par during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Christian Martin recently told Infobae that Enzo Maresca has been asking Chelsea to sign Martinez, though a deal has not materialised yet.

Villa need to keep this squad together

AVFC sold Douglas Luiz last summer, and Jhon Duran in January, so they’ll probably be hoping to avoid more sales of key players in this window.

One imagines that Martinez will continue to be one to watch, even if they are signing Bizot as another option in goal.

Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers also seem like names that could attract attention, but Emery surely can’t keep on progressing in this job if the club keep needing to cash in on some of their most important players.
