Tottenham Hotspur are still hoping to sign Morgan Gibbs-White despite the move being stalled.

There were rumours that they are prepared to pay his £60 million release clause, but Nottingham Forest have decided to take legal action against the North London outfit because of an illegal approach for the player.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has now revealed on Football Insider that the situation is messy, but Tottenham are likely to overcome the hurdles and get the deal done soon.

Morgan Gibbs-White move is likely to happen

“I fully expect Morgan Gibbs-White to make the move to Tottenham,” he told Football Insider.

“If the Isak and Ekitike situations are complicated, this Gibbs-White one is messy.

“Spurs had gone and held talks with Gibbs-White, ready to activate that £60million release clause, and the player was ready to go and sign for Tottenham.

“He was due to take a medical last week, it all happened that quickly. Then Forest obviously put these hurdles up to halt the deal.

“Forest are obviously trying to delay things, but I fully expect the move to go through at some point.”

The player is reportedly keen on the transfer as well. Even though Nottingham Forest are stalling the move, they are likely to be under pressure to sanction the departure eventually.
