Manchester United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves this summer, and now a deal is close for Brentford right winger Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo has been a top target for Man Utd for much of the summer, and there was finally a positive development on the deal yesterday.
David Ornstein of the Athletic reported on the two clubs finally agreeing a fee for the Cameroon international, who looks like an exciting addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Now Henry Winter has weighed in on these two new signings for United, saying they both look like excellent purchases, even if they raise some doubts about Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount.

How will Man Utd fit in Cunha, Mbeumo, Fernandes and Mount?
Winter has noted in a post on X that Amorim’s preferred formation might not leave much room to include all three of Cunha, Mbeumo and Fernandes, while it also surely pushes Mount even further down the pecking order.
“Interesting to see how Manchester United line up this season,” Winter said.
“Mbeumo and Cunha obviously fit the two 10 roles well in Amorim’s beloved 3-4-2-1. Both excellent signings, PL-hardened, bringing goals and assists.

“But it goes without saying that United’s best player is Bruno Fernandes who’s most effective as a 10; possibly 8 with the right player alongside but he doesn’t have the defensive qualities to play deeper.
“And where does this leave a No 10 like Mount? On the bench. Just when he’s got fit.”
Man United need a good transfer…
