His wife Rute and their children are in attendance at Anfield, and the message of Liverpool supporters was clear: Rute, Dinis, Duarte, Mafalda – Anfield will always be your home. You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Following this, a minute of silence was observed, at which point there were displayed of DJ20 and AS30, relating to the shirt numbers that the two brothers wore during the 2024-25 season at their respective clubs.

Understandably, there has been a lot of emotional at Liverpool over the summer following Jota’s tragic passing, and there would have been many tears at Anfield during these tributes. Arne Slot and his players would have felt it too, but their attention would have quickly turned to facing Bournemouth.
Liverpool will be hoping to pay a further tribute to Jota and Silva by securing victory against Bournemouth. There is a lot of pressure on the reigning champions to defend their crown after making a number of high-profile signings this summer – including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike, and the latest addition came prior to kick-off with the club confirmed the arrival of Giovanni Leone from Parma.
