Manchester United are hoping to sign a quality central midfielder during the summer transfer window, and Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton remains a target for them.
According to a report from The Athletic, there is an internal transfer debate ongoing at Manchester United on whether they will move for the 21-year-old as an alternative to Carlos Baleba. They wanted to sign the Brighton midfielder this summer, but a deal looks extremely unlikely. The Seagulls do not want to sell the African midfielder this summer.
Adam Wharton on Red Devils’ radar
Manchester United are now considering the possibility of moving on to alternatives. It will be interesting to see if they decide to move for the Crystal Palace star.
Wharton is one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition. He will add control, creativity, and defensive cover to the side. He has all the tools to develop into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and it would be an excellent long-term investment for Manchester United if they can get the deal done.

Convincing the young midfielder to join the club will not be too difficult for them. However, convincing Crystal Palace to sell him will be a massive challenge. They are likely to lose Eberechi Eze this summer, and club captain Marc Guehi would be on his way out of the club as well. They will not want to lose multiple key players in one window. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
