With frustration mounting in their search for a new centre-forward, Newcastle United are exploring a possible move for Roma striker Artem Dovbyk.
The Ukrainian international has emerged as a potential target after the Magpies encountered difficulties in negotiations for both Jorgen Strand Larsen of Wolves and Yoane Wissa of Brentford.
According to journalist Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, intermediaries are now working to establish a pathway that could see Dovbyk make the switch to St James’ Park before the transfer window closes.
At 28 years old, Dovbyk is an experienced striker who has already proven himself in Serie A and on the international stage.

He is known for his goal scoring quality and his physical presence which is hardly surprising considering his heigh of 6ft 3in.
The forward was restricted to a substitute appearance in Roma’s opening match of the Serie A campaign, and reports suggest manager Gian Piero Gasperini is not opposed to sanctioning his departure.
With Brighton loanee Evan Ferguson impressing during pre-season, competition for places in Roma’s attack has intensified, potentially leaving Dovbyk surplus to requirements.
His current deal runs until June 2029, meaning Roma are in a strong position regarding negotiations, but the club’s willingness to listen to offers could open the door for Newcastle.
