Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi failed to secure a move to Liverpool on deadline day after the Eagles pulled the plug on a deal late on.
The two clubs had agreed on a £35 million deal for the player, and the defender had his medical with the Premier League champions as well. However, Crystal Palace failed to secure a proper replacement, and they had to cancel the move.
Manager Oliver Glasner threatened to leave the club if they sold Guehi without signing a proper replacement. According to Danny Murphy, the defender will be devastated by the situation. Murphy feels that the player might not get another chance to join an elite club like Liverpool if he picks up a serious injury between now and the January transfer window.
What Liverpool did late on that resulted in Marc Guehi transfer collapse
Marc Guehi will be disappointed
Murphy said: “I think Guehi will be devastated. I’m sure Liverpool will go back in January, but there is a chance that this opportunity won’t come for him again.
“But he could do his ACL, he may not get this chance in his life again.”
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. He will be a free agent at the end of the season, and Liverpool might look to sign him on a bargain in future.

Meanwhile, a report from talkSPORT claims that the player will be disheartened with the situation, but he is content to see out his contract with the London club. The 25-year-old is unlikely to kick up a fuss after what happened on deadline day.
The England international has been thoroughly professional throughout the transfer saga, and it is no surprise that he has decided to see out the remainder of his deal at the club instead of creating problems after the way his move was denied.
He will still hope to secure a big move in the near future. There is no doubt that he is one of the best central defenders…
